This Privacy Policy describes how Spotlight ("we," "us," or "our"), a Shopify app, collects, uses, and discloses your information, and the information of your store visitors, when you use our services. By installing or using the Spotlight app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We collect different types of information to provide and improve our services to you.

a. Information from Merchants (Shopify Store Owners)

When you install and use the Spotlight app on your Shopify store, we collect the following information from your Shopify account:

  • Contact Information: Your name, email address, and phone number (if provided).
  • Shopify Store Information: Your Shopify store name and URL.
  • Billing Information: While we use Shopify's billing API (via HeyMantle) for subscription management, we do not directly store your payment card details. Shopify handles all billing transactions.
  • App Usage Data: Information about how you use the Spotlight app, including the features you access, the number of tours and highlights you create, their configurations, and other interactions with the app interface.
  • Support Communications: Records of any correspondence with us when you contact our support team (e.g., via Tawk.to).
b. Information about Your Store Visitors (End-Users of Your Shopify Store)

Spotlight primarily operates client-side within your store, meaning it generally does not collect personally identifiable information (PII) of your store visitors directly on our servers.

  • Anonymous Interaction Data: To help you understand tour performance and improve our features, we may collect anonymous, aggregated data about how visitors interact with the tours and highlights you create. This may include:
    • Number of times a tour is started or a highlight is viewed.
    • Completion rates of tours.
    • General tour navigation paths.
    • No Personal Data: This data is anonymized and does not include IP addresses, unique identifiers, or any information that could identify an individual visitor.

Crucial Note: If your specific use of Spotlight features or any custom integrations leads to the collection of visitor PII, you are solely responsible for ensuring you have the necessary consents and for disclosing such practices in your own privacy policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: To operate, deliver, and maintain the functionality of the Spotlight app on your Shopify store, allowing you to create and manage interactive tours and highlights.
  • To Improve and Develop the App: To understand how merchants use Spotlight, analyze usage patterns, and identify areas for improvement, new features, or performance enhancements.
  • For Billing and Account Management: To manage your subscription, process payments (via HeyMantle), and send you invoices or service-related notifications.
  • For Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical assistance (via Tawk.to).
  • For Communication: To send you updates, security alerts, and administrative messages related to the app. You can opt-out of non-essential communications.

Your Shopify store's own use of cookies is governed by your store's privacy policy.

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
